was wondering if i should upgrade to 5.50 gen b to play the newer games

Depends. Do you have a game that requires it? Then yes. If not, I love M33

Do those games require it? Sorry, I dont remember. If so then yea, I would. Try it out and if you dont like it go back.

First I would update to the latest M33 build (software update on the cross bar on the psp). That may be the latest (dang I wish I had my psp on hand). Then I would download the 5.50 official software and Gen software. Usually they give a tutorial on what to do and where to place these files.
If you want to convert back make a Pandora and start all over

Sorry I couldnt help you more. I have not had any experience with Gen
