The most annoying thing!!!!

Alright, I've talked about this in other topics but I haven't gotten a solution to it..

My PSP automatically mutes itself whenever I:

a.) Open the UMD drive

b.) Close the UMD drive

c.) Press the backlight button

d.) Randomly in the middle of a game

e.) Randomly on the XMB

f.) Whenever it feels like it

It also brings up the home menu (the "do you want to quit the game" menu) when:

a.) I am smack dab in the middle of a game and it keeps coming back after I press no!!! I literaly have to quit the game for it to stop WTF

b.) In the middle of a song (it just acts as if I pressed the HOME button)

c.) In the middle of a USB connection (it just acts as if I pressed the HOME button)

And sometimes when I'm really unlucky when I'm in the middle of a game it mutes, asks me if I wnat to quit and never stops!!!

I listened to many of you and used Pandora's Battery and it still isn't better, I've formatted everything but nothing helps!!!

This is the biggest problem I have in my PSP life right now PLESE SOMEONE HELP ME!!! :x :x :x

Ouch. that sucks, right now the only problem I really have now is that the brightness is all the way down on dark everytime i turn off my psp and turn it back on. but thats nothing..so you tried downgrading and upgrading back to a CFW and it didn't restore your psp's default settings or w/e its suppose to do?

its probably not a software issue
have you ever opened your psp before?
i would suggest opening it if have done so already, and taking the home keys out and put them back in, then put the psp together again
the buttons might have been pushed in at an angle or soemthing and got stuck a super tiny bit under the psp faceplate

haha! dude, your psp's screwed! maby your firmware diddn't install successfully. but It could have something to do with the actual button. It might be short circuting.

am thinking ur problem is hardware based. If you tried downgarding to 1.5 and still have the same problem, then ur psp might b f****d

hmm where is the crack located it may be that because you might be leaning pressure against the strip that is located for the mute button or you could open it up and check if its on properly

Weird O.o when I bought my psp used I know when I took the psp apart there was a little midget sized cracked near the screw, turns out when i took the faceplate off the little circle that the screw goes in was like completely gone and shoved in between the silver outer part and the inside of the psp O.o. It was crazy. I guess maybe someone tried taking it apart already and screwed the screw back on to hard or something.

My guess is the actual home row connector strip (not the buttons the Actual strip) has come undone, loose, or just isn't connecting right.
If you need an actual picture here you go.

If somehow you get your PSP apart, try reconnecting that.

Because it seems to me all your problems are from the homerow.

Home,music,mute etc.

EDIT: As for, the umd drive, I have no idea how that would affect anything.
