i think you mean apply a custom firmware. you need a firmware for the psp to operate, it's like an operating system on a computer.

you can put a custom firmware on all psp 1000 models and older psp 2000 models with a pandora battery and a magic memorystick.

with a custom firmware you can play homebrew programs/games and game backups.

1. What program?
2. Yeah, it's possible to remove the firmware from any psp.
3. The same things you could do with a brick or paperweight. Use it to hold papers down on your desk. Maybe throw it around.

You should seriously so a lot of research about this stuff before you even attempt to do anything other than put UMD's in your PSP.

The PSP's firmware is the operating system for the PSP. Like windows. If you put a completely blank hard drive in your computer, your computer wouldn't do crap. Same for the PSP. What I think you are getting at is hacking your PSP. The firmware as-is will not do anything. You need to install custom firmware which requires copying over Sony's firmware with a modified version of it that DOES support non-Sony approved applications.

google is your friend, as is this picture.

Honestly, this guy fails at posting. I believe he is talking about iPSP, which yes crait, is an iphone portal for the psp. Had this guy actually taken the time to check out the iPSP website, he would have read that it is easy to install and does not require anything like custom firmware.

Again, RTFM... now that i know what you are talking about, that is a PC program that can read info from the PSP... thats pretty much it outside of formatting your memory card. It may do something else, but that"s all I got from it. Sounds pretty useless.

And I will no longer be answering any more of your questions if you are gonna be like that. Use google.

Your posts don't make any sense.. What do you mean? Seriously.

ALL PSP's come with a Firmware (FW) Sony releases these Firmwares which is what you update on your psp, Just like other people have said, its like a computers operating system. Without an FW your psp won't do ANYTHING at all.

CFW is a hacked version of the FW, to get it, all you need is a Pandora and magic memory stick, or a downgrader/time machine of any sort, not this PSPi.
