A buddy of mine has a slim and just got a 16Gb memsick off of ebay and when he uses it in his psp hes having all sorts of problems.

1.) Cxmb wont load properly and sometimes crashes in the middle of using his psp.
2.) If he puts more than 3 games on his memstick it doesnt read more than 3
3.) Wont down load a system update
4.) when he uses an actual umd it looks like its reading the memstick nonstop when no data is present for gamesave.

Anything That might be causing this?

Much thanks

Equ1ox.

didn't check ur link but I'm pretty sure it's cause it's a fake memory stick. eBay is unanymous for them.

are they really "fake" memory sticks? i thought they were just discarded name brand cards that speeds/capacity weren't on par with their standards.

One way to tell for certain is by scrolling to the memory stick icon and pressing triangle then click information from the options that pop up. If it says unsupported or unknown then it's a fake.

Not true.
Half of the Sony & SanDisk Memory cards show up as unknown and unsuppoprted.
I'm not talking about ebay ones, I mean store bought ones.

If its brand new, then it needs to be formatted, or re-formatted.
Try finding some partitioning tool.
I use linux mainly, so I use GParted

Yes true. They aren't official Sony or sandisk unless they've been signed. Unsupported verifies that it's not signed. Try buying from a trustworthy source and you'll see. Most computer stores sell refurbished/ bootleg items just as a lot of discount / deal stores do. If you buy from bestbuy or future shop it'll show as supported 100% of the time.
