50GB PSP HDD(Not rumor and not internal)

Today I came up with an idea:

Take an old internal HDD, and mount it on a USB-OTG HDD enclosure.

That HDD can be used via iR Shell, and since the internal drive is just lying around, and the OTG enclosure only costs $25, isn't that a steal?

Are there any Cons to my idea besides lugging around an HDD when I want to play ISO/CSO & PSX eboots?

slow speeds? plus the most likely 99.6% the psp will not be able to handle it. good idea though. maybe still try it.

How do you figure that?

I figured that at first but I learned that it has to support USB-OTG in order for it to work.

How can you tell if it does? It will have a female USB 2.0 Port.

ah so it has to be a full 2.0 port not a mini...

Yeah. Usually USB-OTG HDDs have an LCD display too.

You should find a device that supports USB Host.

Yes! But thats not exactly what I meant.

I meant something like a microcontroller to bridge the connections and allow crosstalk between the two.

I wonder what the smallest/cheapest OTG HD i could find would be, and if i could even find anything like it at best buy or something

It would be easiest to use the method I came up with:
Buy an internal HDD, mount it in an OTG enclosure, and use USBhost.

i always thought a usb hd would never function due to the psp's lack of "host" capability. but i never thought of how it would work if the hard drive you plugged in was a host itself :). good find!
