In yellow, i discovered a special method that allows you to catch mew.

To do it you need: A LV15 PKMN that will not KO Mew in one hit, Fly, and there is a trainer on the other side of the nugget bridge that you can't beat until this(Before you battle Misty, on the way to Bills house. There is a trainer(Youngster) with two slopoke, leave him alone.)

1.) On Route 8(East of Lavender Town) there is a gambler(Actually there are two, but for this you want the one closer to Saffron City) He is facing north at a building. Enter that building without confronting him, and step out(So it looks like you are standing on the door. I reccomend you save your game here or make a save state, cuz this part is a B*tch)

2.) Walk down and press start at the same time, you will be in range of the Gambler and you will be in the start menu. Once in the start menu select your pokemon that can fly and go to Cerulean City. If done correctly an exclaimation point will appear over the gambler's head before you fly off(Note:You have entered glitch mode, do NOT Walk infront of a trainer with no space between you and him or the game will crash.)

3.) Make your way up to the youngster and battle him. When you win, Press start, and fly to Lavender Town.(NOTE: If you haven't already obtained a LV15 PKMN to fight Mew with, this is the time to do so.)

4.) Head back toard the gambler and the start menu will come up. Press "B" to exit and a battle will start. The pokemon will be a LV15 Mew.

5.) Catch it!!!

Technically the remake of red and blue did come out here in Fire Red and Leaf GREEN version. We got that while Japan got the new Fire Red and Water Blue.
