For a while now many users have enjoyed the use of Dark_AleX's custom firmwares (As well as others, that we not as successful), but there are still those few who have refused to conform to the series of updates. There are a few (off the top of my head anyways) people who think that 1.5 is still the superior firmware. So this is it, the final debate, 1.5 vs 3.XX OE-X, which one is the superior?!
I am not here to persuade anyone, I am a 3.03 OE-C user, but I will not sway any member to any side, so without further adue, I present the pros and cons of each firmware:
(Homebrew capabilities are neither a pro nor a con on either side since they both posses the same capabilities)(Almost
)
1.50
Pros:
*Plenty of empty Flash Space for customizations
*A lot of uneeded icons (Such as the camera and locationfree player) are gone
*Many custom firmware modifications are available
Cons:
*Limited UMD usage
*Does not have the ability to launch .prx files.
*Able to be permanently bricked.
*Flashing is more dangerous and requires an independant application
3.XX OE-X
Pros:
*Allows the launching of backed-up games from the memory stick directly
*Able to launch custom made PRX files
*A Modified POPS Emulator allows for users to create eboots of their backed-up PSX isos.
*Recovery Mode allows PSP to recover from a brick
Cons:
*Additional features take up a great amount of Flash Space
*Installation can be dangerous to those who do not know what they are doing
*NOUMD doesn't function properly with all ISOs.
*Flashing Applications have to be constantly updated to be adapted to each update.
The stage has been set, Heaven or Hell! Lets Rock!
