the long awaited DVD library (called libdi) and it's installer (DVDX) were released yesterday august 12, it installs with a simple .dol file and has the capability to play DVD movies with a new port of Mplayer with the library built in (this port will also play videos off the SDcard

Please note that DVD+R (as opposed to DVD-R) discs will need to have their BookType set to DVD-ROM to work properly in Normal mode (if you have no modchip). PatchMii mode does not have this requirement, but requires a modchip.

I got the dvdx on my wii now but im clueless on how to get he dvds to play now...can anybody help

Vizard Ichigo, this should be posted in the help section. Since this thread has served its purpose I'm going to go ahead and close it. And to briefly answer your question you need to use Mplayer to play DVDs. If you need more help, please post in the help section.
