Computer Problem

Hmmmm.....I installed a new Vista (formatted my HDD and then reinstalled)......

My computer freezes up much more now for some reason. Like, its not using my full 2GB of ram and core 2 duo processors. Any suggestions?

Go to the power options and set it to top performance or something similar to that title. When it's set to balanced it limits the processor speed greatly and increases it when it is needed. That could be your problem, then you know for sure it is using the max. Also, check bios to make sure it recognizes your 2gbs and processor. Try using CPU-Z also to make sure the processor is running at max speed.

Also did you trying installing SP1/ Installing ALL updates? Did you install an instant messaging service? And finally have you installed anything that could cause it?

1st suggestion is to go back to XP until the kinks are out.

After SP1, Vista is quite good. They just had to work the kinks out of it. Go check out Project Mojache (I think it's spelt like that), quite funny if you ask me. I think the only reason Vista had a bad rep was because the uac, and users who didn't know how to run a computer were spending hundreds of dollars on a "beta" OS thinking it would be perfect. I believe it was Windows 98 that crashed horribly when old man gates himself was showing it off at a press release, plugged up a scanner to it to show the PnP capabilities, and BAM he got the blue screen. Pwned.

Yeah, that was a brilliant moment ;)

Anyway Vista is good, especially when I get my 2gb of RAM.
