Not much, I remember a while back where you could play PS2 backups on a PS2 compatible PS3 if you opened it up and removed a copy protection thing by the laser. But you had to leave the PS3 opened up to play the backups.

You can run Linux on phat PS3s and there's a whole world of homebrew and programs there. However, you aren't allocated the full power of the system to work with :(.

Also, using some Blu-Ray Java, they were able to make an NES emulator..

Ah yes I forgot about that, I was able to play that for a while before they patched it.
It didn't have sound tho. :(
