Kinda....Make sure its an over heating issue. Then (if it is) send it back to Mirosoft (FREE) and they will fix everything for u (probably add a new heatsink and possibly the new 65 NM CPU card.

So in the end...It depends what the problem is that is causing the red ring of death.

Buy it on Ebay and MAKE SURE THE PROBLEM IS AN OVER HEATING ISSUE ONLY. Then when u get it call the Xbox hotline thing. They will tell u to send it in. Do it and wait about 3 weeks (yea its a while but worth it) and they will send it back fixed. If the problem is to big they MAY send a new one. It depends. All 360s have a 3 year warranty.

Just make sure you dont mention that you bought it off ebay cause i think consoles bought off ebay are voided from their warranties

You'll have to look at the warranties and see if they are "non-transferrable". If it does say that then you are out of luck, unless you act like it is your xbox.

EDIT: lol i put psp instead of xbox..

Ok, you depends on your error. There isn't like a universal red lights of death. There's ones that pertain to other things then overheating. If it happens to be the one pertaining to heating (I will look up what lights light up) you can fix it yourself sometimes if it hasn't be continually played after the red lights of death. You can do things such as switching out the stock fan or a Talismoon fan (several places sell them such as divineo.com), or changing the thermal compound on the cpu and gpu. You can even put like cardboard (flammable, lol not really suggested) or some other flat object around the sides and top of the gpu heatsinks to redirect airflow. Those are some solutions. Or even changing the X clamps (The clamps on the bottom of the mobo that hold the heatsinks on), or if all else fails you can do that towel trick thing. But those are at home solutions, and do void your warranty. So if you still have the warranty you can send it in to Microsoft.

Ah, if sections 1 and 3 are flashing red then that means its overheating. But there's others like if all 4 sections are flashing then that means no A/V can be detected. But if sections 1,3,4 are flashing then that means general hardware failure (can be overheating too).

If you send in your 360, will they give you a different one and will no longer make your games backwards compatible?

They usually dont give u a new 360. Unless its SUPER bad problem. But even if they give u a new one they wil probably giv u the same HDD back.

Yea if you sent it to them you either don't send in the HDD or you get the same HDD back. It would just be retarded for them to send you a new HDD and throw away your current one, they would just be loosing money.
