*Disclaimer* Me nor any member of the brewology network will be held responsible for your actions, so if you somehow break the hard drive then we will not be held responsible. We will try and help you, but are not responsible for the end product. If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have a problem though. This does void the warranty of the hd.

What is this for?

This guide is for the disassembly of the Xbox 360's external hard drive. This is a fairly easy process for most beginners. I suggest if you are new to modding any sort of consoles, modding the hard drive would be a perfect first project for most newbies.

Materials

You will need for this:
-Torx T6 screw driver (A universal screwdriver with bits works too)
-Torx T10 screw driver
-Pocket knife or Xacto knife (Something to pull apart the plastic from the HD, it has some double sided sticky tape on it.)

Steps

1. So start off by removing the hard drive from the Xbox 360. Lay it with the connector facing up. You will see 3 screws at each corner and one screw under the silver Microsoft sticker. Removing the sticker is the part that voids the warranty of the hard drive. So go ahead and use the T6 to remove the screws.

2. Next you will need lift off the top plastic casing, but be really careful not to loosing the spring loaded button, or you risk loosing the little spring, it is pretty easy to reassemble if it does come apart. Go ahead and now remove the You will see 4 black T10 screws, 2 on 2 of the very corners of the metal casing, and 2 closing to the inside of the metal casing. Go ahead and remove these.

3. Now use the knife or other thin sharp object to pry the plastic bottom from the metal casing. All that is holding it together is a small piece of double sided adhesive tape.

4. After this is done all you need to do is unplug the two connectors attached to the hard drive and slide out the hard drive! :)

It's not the religion that causes wars, it's the men who use religion as a means to control people that do.

I'm sure you can, just buy one that is compatible and you can upgrade your HD with one with more space.

Yes sir you can. I never saw this post, but yea you have to buy one of the WesternDigital 2.5" drives, and use some app on xboxscene to upgrade it to a 360 hard drive. They are very cheap compared to official M$ hd's. A 120GB for $60.
