PS Vita Is Region Free!

Woot! The PS Vita is region free! This means you can import games from other regions and play them. The PSP and PS3 both allow this, and so did most Nintendo consoles, but now the 3DS has region-locked gaming and it is one big complaint.
Do you think Sony did this to combat the 3DS or do you think they would have anyways?
Also, do you guys ever import games?

I doubt they did it to combat the 3ds, I'm pretty sure they would have done it anyways!
