Best wii modchip?

Hi I'm thinking on installing a modchip on my console, but I don't know which one is the best, Can you guys help me out? (I have a NTSC-USA Wii and I would like to play my backups)

I don't know if this topic it's on the right section but I couldn't figure out where else to create it?

It says: Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2B. Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

And I have another question: I installed the homebrew channel and a few applications I downloaded from here, if I install the modchip, will the channel still be working?

Yes. The chip and the homebrew channel are completely unrelated. The modchip connects to your DVD drive and is only involved with the disc authentication process.

With a D2B drive you can get any modchip really. The newer modchips are not necessary. You would be fine with a wiikey or the like. All the modchips do the same thing. Personally I use YAOSM. It's an open source code that you can flash onto a simple pic chip. Search around for info... you'll find something.

Thanks for the help brent I read the info about YAOSM and I find it really interesting (I love open source and programming), but I don't feel very confident about soldering so I think I will buy a Wiikey soldered on a Wiiclip
